I’m a hacker. I’ve been on and off from hacking since I was a child but for one reason or another I couldn’t explore this as a proper career, so I’ve always pursued it as a passion. For now, I’m not working in this industry and I’m studying all of this because it’s something I enjoy and it’s part of who I am.
My current focus is Web Application Security, so I’m looking into CTFs, Bug Bounties, and everything else that allows me to test myself in this sub-field and learn more about it. And I’m focusing on Python as a scripting language.
Other things I’ve experience with and that I like are Networks, Servers, Linux, and everything related to that, so soon I will be looking into HackTheBox and similar challenges. Something that caught my interest recently is Malware Analysis, so expect some content about that too.
Overall there isn’t something I don’t like or enjoy learning about security, but to avoid Paralysis by Choice and to avoid slowing down my progress, I’m forcing myself to learn the things I’ve mentioned above.
“Harpocrates was the god of silence, secrets and confidentiality in the Hellenistic religion”
Security Through Enlightenment is a wordplay based on the famous “Security Through Obscurity” approach that was originally used in security, but that we now know that’s not applicable and not really ‘secure’. I believe that you can better protect – yourself, a computer, a network, everything – only through Knowledge. So seemed apt the metaphor of light/enlightening/knowledge in contrast to darkness/obscurity/ignorance.
The purpose of the site is to allow me to write down my experiences, helping with learning, but also to provide help to whoever will come across my articles. I would like to give back to the community the help that I’ve received growing up.
Hopefully, the blog will also be a way for me to share personal accomplishments and original discoveries.
